Ashwin Unnikrishnan
Dr. Ashwin Unnikrishnan is the Head of the Molecular Mechanisms in Leukaemia Laboratory at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. The Unnikrishnan lab combines expertise in stem cell biology, epigenetics, transcriptomics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. A major research program in the lab involves understanding the role of RNA splicing alterations in leukaemia, with an overarching goal of understanding the molecular drivers of therapy resistance and to discover new therapeutic targets.
Dr. Unnikrishnan is an inaugural recipient of the Leukaemia Foundation’s Breakthrough Fellowship in 2023 and a Principal Investigator on grants from the National Health & Medical Research Council (Australia), Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (USA), Leukaemia Foundation (Australia) and Snowdome Foundation (Australia) that support research in his laboratory.
Dr. Unnikrishnan received his PhD from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, USA and his undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, USA.
