Carmela Ricciardelli

Dr Ricciardelli, a cancer cell biologist was awarded her Ph D in 1996 (Flinders University) and has undertaken postdoctoral studies in the Department of Surgery, Flinders University of South Australia (1996-2001), Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research Laboratories, Hanson Institute, South Australia (2002-2005) and Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Adelaide, Robinson Research Institute (2005-current). She is currently funded by the inaugural Lin Huddleston Ovarian Cancer Research Fellowship in School of Medicine, University of Adelaide for the next 5 years (2016-2020). Dr Ricciardelli has established a highly productive research program and has made major contributions to the understanding mechanisms of breast, prostate and ovarian cancer metastasis. Her group is currently studying the interactions between peritoneal and ovarian cancers and the mechanisms whereby extracellular matrix proteins and proteases promote motility and tumour spread of breast, prostate and ovarian cancers.
